Visit Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region on a Budget

Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region are a vacationer’s paradise even when you are watching what you spend. And, if you are going to stay in the area for more than a few hours, you probably will look for reasonably priced overnight lodging.

While there are some very high priced accommodations in the Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak Region, you can find lodging on a budget. Consider staying at a chain type hotel or motor lodge just off of Interstate-25. Or for something a bit more special, why not stay at one of the older refurbished motels along hwy 24 in the old Colorado City and Manitou Springs areas. Scattered around the area are moderately priced bed and breakfast inns as well. radon testing colorado springs

In any case, you will still be near all of the attractions that make Colorado Springs a great place to visit, whether with your family or as a couple or just by yourself. Pretty much anywhere you stay will be within 5 or so miles of the major places to see such as Pikes Peak or the Garden of the Gods or the downtown restaurants and coffee shops. Note that the Garden of the Gods has free admission while you will need to save some money for the Pikes Peak Cog Railway tickets. But you can hike Pikes Peak for free. Also, a less expensive place to visit is the Cave of the Winds which is very close to the Garden of the Gods.

There are many places either near your lodging or within easy driving distance, to go hiking or take a walking tour. The region is also a great area for bicycling. If you don’t bring your own bicycle with you, rentals from local bicycle shops are very reasonable.

If you prefer a nicer, more unique lodging experience, why not make reservations to stay at a bed and breakfast. Some of the bed and breakfast inns in the Pikes Peak region offer rooms with private bath in the $100 range. This is not so bad considering that breakfast for 1 or 2 persons is included in the price.

Hotels and motels that cater to vacationers will often have higher rates during the summer than other times of the year. If you are able to plan a trip in the off-season, you’ll be able to take advantage of these better rates. Note also that the hotels in the downtown Colorado Springs area that get a lot of business people, will often have better pricing on the weekends. This works out well naturally for folks on a short vacation as they tend to anchor their trips around the weekends.

So, whether you plan your trip far in advance or go at the last minute, you should be able to find some type of lodging on a budget in the Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak areas.
